Use one life to serve Islam

“There is one life that all of us have.”

The khateeb, at 18:21

In one sentence

Because life and time are finite, Muslims must cultivate faith and righteous action, rise to their God-given potential, embody Islam through their conduct, and teach the next generation their community’s history.

For the dinner table

The imam reminded us that we each have one life, and every stage of it is a chance to grow closer to Allah through faith and good deeds. Allah has given each of us potential and goodness that we can develop and share with others. We show the beauty of Islam through everyday choices, like telling the truth, speaking gently, and refusing to join in oppression. He also encouraged parents and teachers to help children learn the history of Muslims in America and the stories of their own communities. Our masjid grew through years of people’s efforts, and the good we do today can benefit the children who come after us.
