The khateeb reminded us that this life is where we choose and act, while the hereafter is where those choices are fully reckoned and rewarded. Because the door of repentance is open now but not later, we should return to Allah while we still have time. He emphasized that good practices, ongoing charity, and righteous children can continue benefiting a person after death. He especially encouraged parents to nurture love of the Ahlulbayt by bringing children to their gatherings and teaching them through steady example. He also asked us to honor our parents and deceased loved ones by remembering them and reciting Surah al-Fatiha for them.
