For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that real success is reaching paradise and being saved from the fire, rather than simply becoming wealthy or famous. The khateeb explained tawheed as worshipping Allah alone, the One who created us and provides for us. He encouraged us to be grateful that we can say “La ilaha illa Allah” and truly believe it in our hearts. He also reminded us that we do not need an impressive degree or complicated words to turn sincerely to Allah. A simple prayer asking Allah for paradise and protection from the fire expresses something central to all our prayers.

  1. What is one gift from Allah you felt especially thankful for today?
  2. How could remembering paradise change one choice you make this week?
  3. What would you say to someone who feels their prayers are too simple?
