Stand firm in truth through Gaza's suffering
In the face of Gaza and Palestine's suffering, believers should combine sincere dua, trust in Allah's wisdom, steadfastness on truth, and active advocacy while hoping for relief and ultimate victory.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Opens with praise, prophetic blessings, and prayers for mercy, safety, and relief for Gaza, Palestine, and oppressed people.
- Frames current suffering through Quranic and historical examples of persecuted believers, including Zakariyya, Yahya, the People of the Trench, and the young boy and sorcerer.
- Explains that sincere dua is never wasted: it may be answered immediately, saved for the Hereafter, or used to avert harm.
- Uses Musa before Pharaoh and Muhammad at Ta'if to teach trust in Allah, patience, and hope for an opening.
- Urges listeners to use available tools to advocate, amplify Palestinian voices, and teach their families about the suffering.
- Concludes that steadfastness on truth is itself a form of victory, with prayers for relief, strength, and divine support.
In the khateeb's words
“And either Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is going to make you see the results and see the answer of the dua.”
“But standing on truth and following the path of truth and righteousness, this is victory as well.”
“Every time, remind yourself with their struggle. Remind your family, your children. Spread the word and remind people about that pain and that oppression that's happening and that's taking place.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb spoke about the suffering of people in Gaza and Palestine and asked Allah to bring them safety, ease, and relief. He encouraged us to keep making dua, explaining that its answer may come in different forms and may not be visible right away. Through the stories of the Prophet Muhammad and Prophet Moses, he reminded us to hold on to trust in Allah during hardship. He also reminded us that possessions alone do not give us contentment or peace. Patience includes continuing to stand for what is right, speaking up for those suffering, and helping their voices be heard. As a family, we can remember them in our prayers and conversations and look for ways to put our care into action.
- What would you like to ask Allah for on behalf of children and families in Gaza and Palestine?
- What helps you feel thankful and peaceful beyond the things you own?
- What is one way our family could help others understand the suffering the khateeb asked us to remember?
