Faith should make us safe and useful

“You take good and produce good; the effect should be good.”

The khateeb, at 26:32

In one sentence

True faith must appear in character: believers should remain steadfast, benefit others without harm, strengthen the community, correct one another privately, share suffering, resist wrongdoing, and leave sin.

The khutbah in 6 steps

  2. Uses date-palm, gold, honeybee, building, mirror, and body analogies for believers.
  3. Defines believers as people who make others safe from their person, property, tongue, and hand.
  4. Reframes jihad as struggling against the soul that urges wrongdoing.
  5. Reframes hijrah as leaving sins and mistakes every day.
