For the dinner table

Eid al-Adha reminds us of Ibrahim, whom the khateeb described as our father in faith and an example of complete obedience to Allah. We were taught three lessons from his life: submit to Allah, speak the truth respectfully while standing with the oppressed, and leave a good legacy. A parent’s most important legacy can be children taught deen, Quran, Sunnah, good manners, and confidence as Muslims. The khateeb encouraged us to make dua in the rain, spend meaningful time together, give children thoughtful gifts, and celebrate Eid as part of our Muslim identity. He closed by asking Allah to protect our families and communities, guide those who cause harm, and remove oppression peacefully.

  1. What could we teach or do with our family this Eid that becomes a good legacy?
  2. When is it important to speak the truth respectfully?
  3. How can we make Allah central in one part of our daily life?
