Follow the Prophet through hardship
Believers should make Prophet Muhammad their enduring role model, respond to hardship with patience and his Sunnah, and trust Allah's eventual help and ease.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Reflects on the Prophet's hardships and Allah's promise of ease after difficulty.
- Presents Prophet Muhammad as the true role model over athletes and social-media figures.
- Uses Bilal's suffering and the companions' hunger at Khandaq to illustrate perseverance and prophetic solidarity.
- Discusses the accusation against Aisha and Surah al-Nur as an example of patience and divine vindication.
- Applies the lesson to family, financial, and other problems by following the Prophet's Sunnah.
- Closes with exhortations toward truthfulness, ihsan, justice, and prayers for the Prophet and companions.
In the khateeb's words
“our role model is not the athletes today is not the popular person on Instagram today our role model all time and all will always and forever will be Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam”
“any issue we have either it's family matters if it's finance or it's anything if we want to go back and see what we can do to resolve this look at the sunnah of Nabi sallallahu alaihi wasallam”
“with patience with the sabr of Rasul Allah ta'ala cleared out everything and every step any anything you know that came in Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam's life Allah ta'ala backed him”
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminded us that hardship can be followed by unexpected ease and openings from Allah Ta'ala. The khateeb encouraged us to make Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam our lasting role model instead of building our lives around athletes or social-media fame. He recalled the perseverance of the Sahabah, including Bilal radiallahu anhu, and described how the Prophet shared his community’s hunger and suffering. He also taught that family problems, financial struggles, and painful accusations should be met by studying the Prophet’s life and practicing sabr. The central message was that following the footsteps of Allah’s beloved Messenger brings us closer to Allah’s mercy and help.
- Who is one person you look up to, and what quality do you want to learn from them?
- What helps you remember Allah when something difficult is happening?
- How could our family share someone else’s burden this week?
