For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that loving the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, comes with a responsibility to benefit other people. He encouraged us to grow in taqwa, awareness of Allah, and to keep improving our character. Allah looks at our hearts and actions, so we should pay attention to what we watch, hear, and say. The Prophet’s kindness and patient attention teach us to listen carefully to others, especially elders who may feel left out. This week, we can put these lessons into practice by helping someone, giving a family member our full attention, and choosing kind words or staying quiet.

  1. Who could we help this week outside our own family, and how?
  2. What would giving an older relative your full attention look like?
  3. What could you say when friends start talking unkindly about someone?
