Sincere advice is the heart of Islam

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that nasiha means sincere, truthful goodwill, not harsh criticism. It reminded us that the Prophet gave different advice to different people, so we should ask what guidance we need in our own role. We can show nasiha by giving Allah our best time, reading and living the Quran, treating leaders responsibly, and correcting family and friends privately and gently. The speaker also urged the community to protect trust, avoid envy and backbiting, and work for unity. At home, we can choose one small act of sincere care to practice this week.

  1. What does it mean to give Allah your best time instead of your leftover time?
  2. How can we help someone improve without embarrassing them?
  3. What makes a community leader trustworthy and gentle?
