For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us to learn from Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience, gratitude, sincerity, and willingness to sacrifice for Allah. He followed Allah’s commands through difficulty, and we can learn from him by making time for prayer and working on habits such as anger, gossip, and jealousy. The khateeb encouraged us to turn to Allah with our worries and trust Him with our affairs. He also reminded us to ask Allah to accept our worship, just as Ibrahim and Ismail did after building the Kaaba. Ibrahim prayed for himself and his descendants to establish prayer, teaching us to keep making dua for our families while putting our faith into action.

  1. What is one blessing you can thank Allah for today, even if your day was difficult?
  2. When you feel tempted to gossip or speak in anger, what could you do instead?
  3. What dua could we make for our family tonight, and how could we help one another tomorrow?
