Today the khateeb told us part of the story of Prophet Musa, peace be upon him, which is the story repeated most often in the Qur'an. After Musa beat Fir'aun's magicians, the powerful leaders around Fir'aun spread a lie that Musa and his people were the ones causing corruption, and Fir'aun threatened to hurt their children. Musa told his people to ask Allah for help, to be patient, and to remember that in the end the future belongs to people who are conscious of Allah. He also reminded them that if Allah ever gave them power, Allah would watch how they used it. The khateeb connected this to the people of Gaza and to brave people who speak up for them even when it costs them, and he said that real change starts when people are no longer afraid of the powerful.

  1. Why do you think Fir'aun's leaders called Musa and his people the troublemakers, when they were really the ones being hurt?
  2. Musa told his people to seek Allah's help and be patient. When is it hard for you to be patient, and what helps you?
  3. If Allah gave you power or a big audience one day, how would you want to use it?
