Piety and knowledge must not feed pride

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminds us that piety, knowledge, wealth, and status are blessings from Allah, but they can become dangerous if they make us feel better than others. Iblis had worship and knowledge, yet arrogance caused his downfall. We should be humble, thank Allah for what we have, and live by the Quran rather than only learning it. When people provoke or belittle us, we can respond peacefully, avoid arguments, and ask Allah to remove pride from our hearts.

  1. When has a good quality or achievement made it harder to stay humble?
  2. What is one way we can live by the Quran this week?
  3. How can we respond peacefully when someone is rude to us?
