Our words can become thorns or flowers

In one sentence

Because speech reveals character and shapes our fate, Muslims should emulate the Prophets by speaking beautifully, gently, and responsibly, especially when correcting others or communicating online.

The khutbah in 5 steps

  1. Ethical manners and meaningful speech were once taught alongside academic subjects.
  2. The Prophet's mission included perfecting manners, making the Prophets behavioral role models.
  3. Beautiful, gentle speech should replace insults, profanity, mockery, curses, and offensive labels.
  4. Cursing and calling others disbelievers can rebound on the speaker; the Quran should prompt self-accountability.
  5. Control the tongue and de-escalate hostile exchanges in WhatsApp and other group discussions.
