Faith means showing mercy to all

“If you have Iman, you have Rahmah.”

The khateeb, at 2:03

Because Allah, His Messenger, and the Qur'an embody mercy, genuine faith requires believers to show rahmah toward people, animals, and all creation by noticing suffering and helping relieve it.

For the dinner table

The khutbah taught that mercy is a core sign of faith, not just a feeling reserved for close friends. Because Allah, the Prophet Muhammad, and the Qur'an are described through mercy, believers should notice suffering and try to ease it. This includes spouses, children, parents, relatives, poor people, Muslims suffering in Gaza, and even animals. The sermon encouraged us to pause instead of walking past someone in need, offer practical help, and make sincere du'a for those who are suffering. Showing mercy to creation is presented as a path to receiving Allah's mercy.

  1. Who might need our kindness this week, and what could we do to help?
  2. How can we show mercy to an animal or another living creature?
  3. Why do you think helping others is connected to faith?
