Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah explained ihsan as doing things with excellence because Allah sees us, and as going beyond the bare minimum in our duties. We should bring ihsan into salah, Quran recitation, dhikr, work, family life, neighborly care, conversations, and treatment of animals. The khateeb reminded us to speak wisely and kindly, including with non-Muslims, and to help people who are struggling. The stories of Musa and Yusuf showed that Allah does not waste sincere goodness, even when the reward is delayed. A community grows stronger when its members forgive, give, and choose the higher road.
