Righteousness means faith, service, and patience
“If you want to be truthful in your belief, this is the way: you believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, you do the works, and you do good by others.”
True righteousness is not measured by outward orientation alone but by a prioritized life of faith, worship, generosity, integrity, and patient endurance.
The khutbah in 6 steps

- Presents patience during illness, calamity, and Gaza's suffering as evidence of faith and a path to reward.
- Closes by urging deeper Quran study and announcing the Muslim Family Foundation's counseling services and dinner event.
In the khateeb's words
“if you want to be truthful in your belief this is the way you believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you do the works and you do good by others”
“when you are loaned some money you give it back when you promise something you do it”
“the Quran has so many jewels take the time to go and really learn as much as possible learn what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala expects from us”
For the dinner table
The khateeb explored Surah al-Baqarah, ayah 177, describing righteousness as a life that brings together faith, worship, and good character. He compared our priorities to big rocks that need to go into a jar first: belief in Allah and accountability, generosity, prayer, zakat, keeping promises, and patience through hardship. He encouraged us to give even when it feels difficult, remembering relatives in need, orphans, and others who need help. He reminded us that living our faith includes keeping our word to our children and treating one another honorably. He also spoke about the community’s need for family counseling and shared a moving example of generosity: a sister who donated a kidney to help someone she did not know.
- What is something you value that you could share to help someone else?
- What would help us become better at keeping our promises to each other?
