For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are among the greatest days of the year and a gift from Allah. The Day of Arafah is especially valuable, and fasting it was described as a means of expiating two years of sins. Even if we cannot make Hajj, we can seek great reward by praying Fajr in congregation, staying to worship until sunrise, learning or teaching about Allah, and praying two rak'ahs. Caring for and honoring a living parent is also a powerful act of worship. The message was to prepare intentionally and use the opportunities Allah gives us.
