For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that making Imam al-Hasan al-Askari happy means living with taqwa and good character, not only performing rituals. The speaker encouraged us to be truthful, protect every trust, honor parents, care for neighbors, keep family ties, visit the sick, attend funerals, and fulfill people’s rights. He also reminded us that everyday work, exercise, food, and family time can become worship when done with sincere intention for Allah. He connected Imam al-Askari to preparing believers for the occultation of Imam al-Mahdi and urged concern for Palestinians as human beings facing injustice. We can choose one quality each month and practice it together.

  1. What is one trust someone has placed in you that you can protect better?
  2. How can we show kindness to a neighbor this week?
  3. Which quality should our family practice this month?
