Guard four habits to earn Jannah
“Say something that is good, something that is beneficial, something that will bring hearts together.”
The khutbah argues that disciplined believers can receive the Prophet’s guarantee of Jannah by safeguarding their tongues, chastity, hands, and feet, while families reinforce these habits through structured routines.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Introduces a prophetic guarantee of Jannah conditioned on four disciplined safeguards.
- Explains guarding the tongue through beneficial speech, silence, dhikr, and avoiding lies, backbiting, slander, and abuse.
- Explains guarding chastity through modesty, lowering the gaze, avoiding pornography and triggers, and following Yusuf’s example.
- Explains using the hands for beneficial sharing, helping others, and sadaqah rather than harm or online fitnah.
- Explains guarding the feet by avoiding arrogance and sinful places while walking toward beneficial gatherings.
- Urges parents to structure winter break, limit phone use, establish sleep routines, and build the habit of Fajr attendance.
In the khateeb's words
“Either say something that is good Something that is beneficial Something that will bring hearts together Something that will bring peace to a situation”
“When you want to leave the situation When you want to leave the haram And you take active steps In staying away from the haram Allah will open the doors for you”
“If you sit on social media share a hadith You use your hands to share a hadith Share a hadith that can be beneficial towards others”
“Create a structured plan for your kids Do not let your kids sit on the phone”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that the Prophet gave a hopeful guarantee of Jannah for people who protect four parts of their conduct: the tongue, chastity, hands, and feet. We should speak good words or stay quiet, guard our eyes and avoid sinful triggers, use our hands for help and beneficial sharing, and walk humbly toward good places. Allah records what we say and do, so self-control matters even when nobody else sees us. During winter break, parents are encouraged to make a schedule, limit phone time, sleep early, and bring children to Fajr. Small, repeated choices can help families build these habits with Allah’s help.
- What is one good thing you could say or do with your phone this week?
- Which habit would help you get ready for Fajr more easily?
- How can our family use our hands and feet to help someone?
