The Prophets & seerahFrom the masjid's own video, Apr 18, 2026.
Follow the Prophet through hardship
“As a Muslim, you need to listen.”
The khutbah in 8 steps
- The first public da'wah: the verse 'warn your near kin,' the Prophet standing on Safa, and Abu Lahab's curse answered by Surah al-Masad
- Parallels to modern da'wah workers facing abuse, and the Prophet's refusal to retaliate during 13 years in Mecca
- The salaa al-jazoor (camel intestines) incident, the Prophet's dua against Quraysh leaders, and their deaths at Badr
- Ka'b ibn Zuhair the hostile poet: the Prophet listens to 37 lines of poetry, then forgives him and gives him his cloak
- The claim that 'Muhammadim' appears in the Song of Solomon and why it is denied
- The terms of the bay'ah (pledge): morality everyone can agree on, obedience even in disagreement, giving in ease and hardship, enjoining good and forbidding evil
- Loving Allah and His Messenger more than family, job, and self; Hassan ibn Thabit's sacrifice poetry; closing dua
- Community announcements: halaqahs, elections, picnic, Quran school, kids' library
Try this week
Make da'wah publicly and visibly, following the Prophet's example, even at the risk of verbal or physical abuse
Talk less and listen more, especially in discussions; do not talk over others
Give charity for Allah's sake in both financial comfort and financial hardship
Obey legitimate community leadership and accept final decisions even when you disagree
Speak out and call haram what it is even if it angers people; do not seek people's approval over Allah's
Put love of Allah and His Messenger above job, family, and self, including sacrificing a job that demands disobedience
Support community activities: attend the halaqahs, donate to the masjid, and contribute books to the children's library
