Keep faith whole through trust and patience
“Patience is part of the process.”
Believers remain spiritually unbroken amid betrayal, conflict, and hardship by honoring every trust and covenant, staying patient, choosing uplifting company, and grounding themselves in remembrance of God.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Establishes fulfillment of covenants, trusts, and promises as core Islamic values.
- Applies these duties to parents, secrets, property, contracts, marriage, family, work, and citizenship.
- Contrasts betrayal with faithful believers, using Imam Ali and Marwan ibn al-Hakam as an example.
- Teaches that trials and oppression require patience and perseverance before divine victory.
- Urges listeners to avoid pessimistic, rumor-spreading people and seek righteous, encouraging company.
- Prescribes dhikr, especially Tasbihat al-Zahra after prayer, to strengthen faith and bring tranquility.
In the khateeb's words
“when you have a contract a covenant with righteous or non-righteous you have to fulfill that you have to honor that”
“when someone else is bad you should not be bad like him you are a Muslim remember always we remind ourselves in the morning at night I'm a Muslim”
“Patience is part of the process. The path for victory involves patience, perseverance, sabr. Without it, victory does not arrive.”
“The result of this tasbihat. With intention. With understanding. With will. When you pay attention to it. It will make you stronger.”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that faithfulness is shown by keeping promises, returning trusts, protecting secrets, and honoring agreements. This duty applies even when the other person is not religious or has behaved badly. When life becomes frightening or unjust, believers should expect trials, practice patience, and trust that God's help is near. They should avoid people who spread despair and stay close to encouraging, righteous companions. Daily remembrance, including Tasbihat al-Zahra after prayer, can bring calm and strengthen the heart.
- When is it hardest to keep a promise or protect someone's secret?
- Who helps you feel hopeful and strong when life is difficult?
- What dhikr or prayer helps you feel calm?
