Human dignity calls for humility

The khutbah in 6 steps

  2. Explains that all people share a common origin and human dignity; differences exist for recognition, not superiority.
  3. Warns against arrogance rooted in knowledge, wealth, status, and reputation through examples of Iblis, Fir'aun, and Qarun.
  4. Uses the Prophet's respect for a Jewish funeral and his forgiveness of enemies to illustrate honoring every human soul.
  5. Teaches that righteousness, not race or social identity, determines honor before Allah.
  6. Urges listeners to adopt the Prophet's manners and closes with prayers for the oppressed, Palestine, healing, and peace.

For the dinner table

Today, Imam Muhammad Ajmal reminded us that Allah has honored all human beings and that our differences are an opportunity to know one another. Knowledge, wealth, and status are blessings from Allah, and they should lead us to gratitude and humility. He warned us against looking down on people, including those we think are less religious, because they may have good qualities we do not see. He encouraged us to learn from the Prophet Muhammad’s kindness, forgiveness, and respect for others. As a family, we can practice this by treating people with dignity and pursuing our goals without hurting others.
