For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught us that a righteous life begins with being mindful of Allah and relying on Him in every circumstance. We should protect our prayers, thoughts, eyes, ears, speech, food, and actions from what displeases Him. The Prophet’s advice also calls us to be truthful, keep promises, honor trusts, guard chastity, lower our gaze, and avoid harming others. When life becomes hard, we can remember that victory comes with patience and hardship with ease. This week, each of us can choose one habit to guard more carefully and ask Allah for help.

  1. What is one way you can guard your eyes, ears, words, or hands this week?
  2. When has patience helped you through something difficult?
  3. What does asking Allah alone look like when you need help?
