For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that a clean heart includes thinking well of other Muslims and protecting their honor. The imam explained how suspicion, mockery, and gossip can hurt people and damage our relationships. He encouraged us to give others the benefit of the doubt instead of filling in what we do not know with bad assumptions. When someone is being slandered, we can speak truthfully in their defense and help stop the harmful talk. He also reminded us that convincing words do not always tell the truth, and that guarding our speech protects our own hearts and good deeds.
