For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that knowing Allah gives our lives purpose and that our everyday character helps us represent Islam. He encouraged us to follow the Prophet’s example and seek knowledge from people who are knowledgeable, capable, and caring. He told a story about a boy whose repeated attempts to carry water in a coal basket cleaned the basket, even though the water kept leaking out. In the same way, steady prayer, Quran reading, and good actions can help purify our hearts even when we do not see results right away. He invited us to keep caring for our souls, choose surroundings that help us grow closer to Allah, and fill gaps in our knowledge one step at a time.
