On the 17th of Ramadan, the khateeb reflected on the Battle of Badr as a reminder that Allah can bring help and victory when believers do what is right. Badr also teaches that our plans may change, so we should do our part, seek counsel, make dua, and trust Allah with the outcome. The sacrifice of the Companions asks us to consider what we give to Islam through worship, service, support for the masjid, and good example. With wars and suffering affecting Muslims around the world, the sermon calls us to use Ramadan’s remaining nights for forgiveness, renewed connection, and meaningful contribution. The hope is that individual faithfulness can help renew the wider Muslim community.
