For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us to be careful of pride and arrogance. The khateeb encouraged us to remember our humble beginnings and recognize that our abilities and achievements come from Allah. He shared an example of Abu Hurairah speaking humbly about himself despite his many accomplishments. He explained that arrogance can show up in our private thoughts, our actions, and how we treat other people. We can begin by noticing it in ourselves, making an effort to change, and asking Allah to help us grow in humility.

  1. When someone praises you, how could you show gratitude to Allah?
  2. What might arrogance look like during an argument with a sibling or friend?
