For the dinner table

Today's khutbah was about rizq, the provision Allah gives every living thing. The khateeb taught that rizq isn't only money: our iman, health, knowledge, good manners and families are all provision from Allah, and only Allah is the true Provider. Our provision was written for us before we were born, so we shouldn't worry, but we still have to work hard, like a bird that leaves its nest every morning and comes back full. He also shared spiritual ways to increase rizq: trusting Allah, praying on time, taqwa, istighfar, dua, giving sadaqah and saying thank you to Allah. He ended by reminding us that true richness is a content heart, and that being happy with what Allah gave us is better than chasing more and more.

  1. Besides money, what is one kind of rizq Allah has given you that you're thankful for today?
  2. The bird goes out hungry every morning and comes home full. What's something you need to work hard at while also trusting Allah?
  3. If you could give a little sadaqah every week, who or what would you want to help?
