For the dinner table

Today the khateeb reminded us that Allah will hold us accountable for what we do, even small things. He explained that gambling is not harmless entertainment: sports betting, parlays, prediction markets, and similar schemes can drain savings, create addiction, divide families, and exploit people who are struggling. He encouraged us to stay far away from betting, help friends and relatives leave it, and speak up when it harms the community. He also reminded us to care for people in need by giving charity rather than taking advantage of them. We can protect our families and neighbors by choosing justice, community care, and responsible action.

  1. How can we recognize when something marketed as entertainment is actually harming people?
  2. What could we do if a friend or relative started losing money through sports betting?
  3. How can our family support someone in need without making them feel ashamed?
