Follow the Prophet through mercy

“The true believer is the one who is close to people, who is available, easy to deal with.”

The khateeb, at 16:58

The Prophet Muhammad’s sunnah is best learned through his mercy, kindness, and approachable character, so Muslims should embody those qualities in how they treat one another and serve their community.

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught us to learn the Prophet Muhammad’s example through the Qur’an, especially his mercy and kindness. A strong Muslim is not only someone who worships, but someone who remains gentle, approachable, and helpful even when life is difficult. We were encouraged to greet and speak with people of every age, control anger, and make the masjid welcoming. The khateeb also invited us to pray for Hajjah Afzal, join the community festival, support the masjid, and remember Gaza in our daily du'a. At home, we can make these teachings real through small acts of welcome, service, and prayer.

  1. Who at the masjid might need a kind greeting or conversation from us this week?
  2. How can our family show mercy when someone is upset?
  3. What can we do together during five minutes of daily prayer for people in Gaza?
