Earn lawfully and prepare for the Hereafter
“If we earn this way, this will be beneficial for us.”
In one sentence
Because all wealth and worldly life belong to Allah and are temporary, believers should earn lawfully with sincere intentions, help others, remember Allah, and prepare for the everlasting Hereafter.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Allah owns all dominion, so worldly possessions are temporary trusts.
- People are accountable for how they earn and spend wealth, especially unlawful or wasteful wealth.
- The fleeting dunya should not be preferred over the everlasting Hereafter; wise believers prepare for death.
- Constant remembrance, repentance, and good deeds can lead to Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.
- The khutbah closes with prayers for the sick, bereaved, and needy, followed by exhortation to pray attentively.

Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“So you earn just because I should not beg to anybody. This is my intention. Why I am earning? So I will not ask anybody help.”
“So if we earn this way, this will be beneficial for us. But if we earn for boosting ourselves or showing off ourselves and for just having too much, but we're going to live in this world soon.”
“So He can change our sins into good deeds. Our sayyat with hasanat. This is a promise of Allah SWT.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminded us that Allah owns everything and that our wealth is only entrusted to us for a short time. We are accountable not only for how we earn money, but also for how we spend it. The speaker encouraged lawful earning with humility, helping the poor and family, remembering Allah, and preparing for the Hereafter. He also reminded us that Allah is merciful, accepts sincere repentance, and wants us to pray with presence of heart.
- How can we use what Allah has given our family to help someone else?
- What helps you remember Allah during an ordinary day?
- What is one way we can practice sincere repentance this week?
