Tawakkul means trusting Allah as the One who manages our affairs, but it does not mean sitting back or abandoning responsibility. We should work lawfully, plan, seek advice, care for our families’ prayer and spiritual growth, and take the available means. We then leave the outcome to Allah, knowing that our provision is in His care and our effort is seen. The khutbah also teaches us to worship Allah alone and accept His decree with contentment. In everyday decisions, Istikhara, consultation, effort, and patience can all belong to tawakkul.

  1. Where can we work hard while still asking Allah for help?
  2. How can our family help one another grow in prayer?
  3. What should we do when Allah chooses a result different from what we wanted?
