For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that human beings naturally need friendship, but our friends can strongly shape how we live and worship. The khateeb warned about companions who encourage wrongdoing, mock faith, use us for their benefit, or disappear when we need them. He described a good friend as dependable, humble, faithful in prayer, generous, and able to bring us closer to Allah. We were encouraged to examine our friendships honestly and also ask whether we ourselves show these good qualities. The example of Ibrahim taught us that generosity, including sharing meals with others, is a beautiful quality loved by Allah.
