For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that turning to Allah begins with working on our own hearts, reading the Qur'an, and trying to live by what we learn. Allah's provision includes our health, time, relationships, and ability to think, as well as money. Sincerity, kindness, and empathy help us care for each other and strengthen our community. Gratitude takes practice, and both receiving what we want and going without it can test us. He encouraged remembering and praising Allah, and he closed by asking everyone to pray for a friend who was suffering, reminding us to offer whatever help we can.

  1. What blessing besides money did you notice today, and how could you show gratitude for it?
  2. What could you do when someone else's success makes you feel jealous?
  3. Who could we pray for tonight, and what kind thing could we do for them?
