For the dinner table

The khutbah teaches that backbiting means speaking about someone in a way they would dislike, and saying something untrue becomes slander. Gossip can quietly damage trust, divide a community, and make us judge people without knowing the full story. We should correct clear wrongdoing wisely, but avoid suspicion and matters that do not concern us. If we backbite, we should repent, feel sorry, pray for the person, restore their reputation, and seek forgiveness carefully so we do not create greater harm.
