For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah asks who we should care about when the world feels spiritually and morally troubled. We should protect our own faith and our families, but we should not use self-care as an excuse to ignore neighbors, community, ummah, or humanity. The Prophet’s example was to feel mercy for people who sinned or even harmed him, praying for their guidance rather than mocking their failures. We may not control the outcome in our families or in anyone else’s life, but we are responsible for sincere effort. This week, help someone stand, guard your own heart, and make compassionate dua for people who are struggling.

  1. Who is someone you can help this week without making fun of them?
  2. What is one way to care for your family and one way to care for your community?
  3. How can we pray for someone who is struggling or making wrong choices?
