Follow the Prophet beyond seasonal praise

“The Prophet alayhi salatu wasalam should be always part of our life.”

The khateeb, at 4:19

In one sentence

A Muslim's connection to Prophet Muhammad should be continual and lived through accepting his guidance, emulating his character, and loving him in hope of his companionship in the Hereafter.

The khutbah in 6 steps

  2. Frames Quranic and prophetic guidance as authoritative and explanatory, not merely one opinion among others.
  3. Shifts from easy ritual habits to imitating mercy, courage, humility, accessibility, and balanced leadership.
  4. Shows how the Prophet's character made people feel heard and made his message credible.
  5. Presents love of the Prophet as part of faith, a driver of imitation, and a hope for companionship on Judgment Day.
  6. Closes with supplication for truth, right action, and the ummah, followed by Quranic recitation.

Today’s khutbah reminded us that loving the Prophet Muhammad means keeping his guidance close throughout our lives, beyond special occasions. His example helps us understand how to worship Allah and how to treat other people. The khateeb especially encouraged us to practice his kindness, mercy, gentleness, and wisdom, even when those qualities take effort. He described how the Prophet remained humble despite his power and made people comfortable asking difficult questions. Learning about him can deepen our love, help us follow his example, and give us hope of being with him in the hereafter.

  1. What is one way you could show the Prophet’s gentleness when someone annoys you?
  2. What helps you feel safe asking a difficult question?
  3. Which quality of the Prophet would you like us to learn more about together?
