For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that perfecting good character is central to the mission of the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and to our own growth as Muslims. Some people naturally have qualities like gentleness and patience, while others must work steadily to develop them. We need knowledge to understand what good character truly means, confidence that Allah can help us change, and regular effort to train ourselves. Habits such as anger, laziness, lateness, selfishness, and assuming the worst about others should not be accepted as simply who we are. Along with practical effort, we should ask Allah to beautify our character just as He perfected our creation.

  1. What is one character habit you would like Allah to help you improve?
  2. When was a time you stayed calm even though you felt upset?
  3. How can we show more gratitude and less selfishness at home this week?
