Faithful companions stood firm at Karbala
“All of them, they were looking for the rida of Allah.”
The companions of Imam Husayn exemplified true faith through unwavering loyalty to Allah and justice despite diverse backgrounds and certain death, and Muslims today should follow their steadfastness and mutual respect.

In the khateeb's words
“if you are a believer, then it doesn't matter where you came from, how old you are, how rich you are, how poor you are, male or female, it doesn't matter”
“Nobody among them was looking for a position, or money, or ladies, or ganaim, nobody. All of them, they were looking for the rida of Allah .”
“We have to respect each other. We have to respect the decision of each other, whether the male or the female.”
For the dinner table
Today's khutbah reflected on the faithfulness of Imam Hussain's family and companions at Karbala. The khateeb described people of different ages, backgrounds, and social positions coming together through faith and standing for justice. He emphasized that the companions sought Allah's pleasure and remained loyal through great hardship. He also pointed to our gatherings today, where older and younger people, students and professionals, sit together. For our families, he encouraged mutual respect, respect for each other's decisions, and seeing difficulties as tests through which we can earn reward.
- What is one promise you can take special care to keep this week?
- How could you help someone of a different age or background feel included at a gathering?
- When we disagree at home, what helps you feel listened to and respected?
