For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that good companionship is one of Allah’s great blessings. The people around us shape what we care about, and we also shape the lives of our friends. Through Musa asking for Harun’s support, the khateeb showed how friends can help each other carry responsibilities and remember Allah. A caring friend notices when something is wrong, protects private information, and offers honest advice kindly. Friendship also needs forgiveness, healthy boundaries when there is repeated harm, and happiness for another person’s success. We can ask Allah to give us good companions and help us become that kind of companion ourselves.

  2. How would you want a friend to tell you that you had made a mistake?
  3. How could you celebrate a friend’s success when you wish you had the same opportunity?
