For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, welcomed people across differences in race, wealth, and background. The khateeb told the story of a man whose family and tribe were unknown, yet the Prophet accepted him and cared for him. When others had accounted for their own people after a battle, the Prophet noticed this man was missing and called him part of his family. This story invites us to notice people who feel left out and help them feel they belong. The khateeb closed by praying for united hearts, peace around the world, and guidance and protection for our children and grandchildren.
