For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah asked us to examine whether our possessions, comfort, and need for recognition are making us selfish. Islam teaches that real freedom comes from being attached to Allah, so we should fulfill our duties with excellence even when no one is watching or thanking us. We can practice this by serving neighbors and relatives, giving privately, and teaching children to give without expecting something back. The khateeb also reminded us to remember those who helped us, make dua for those who have died, and be patient with aging parents. A selfless life is not about having nothing; it is about using what we have for Allah and the good of people around us.
