The khateeb, at 15:23

Try this week
Stand for what is right even when it costs comfort, relationships, or safety.
Speak up against gossip and backbiting among friends or family even when it feels awkward.
When your family is in a dispute you believe is unjust, side with justice rather than automatic tribal loyalty.
Regularly examine whether your daily conduct resembles the stand of al-Husayn or the conduct of Yazid and Pharaoh.
Move forward and fill gaps in the prayer rows so brothers standing outside can find space.

For the dinner table

The khutbah reflected on Ashura, the rescue of Musa and Bani Israel, and the martyrdom of Imam al-Husayn. It taught that faith is tested when truth and justice become difficult or costly. Loving good people and admiring their courage is not enough; our actions must reflect what we claim to believe. We can practice this in everyday situations, such as refusing gossip, admitting when we are wrong, and standing up respectfully for what is right. May Allah help us learn from history and walk in the footsteps of those who stood for the Haqq.

  1. When is it hard to tell the truth, and what could help you do it?
  2. How can you stand up for someone who is being treated unfairly?
  3. What is one action this week that can make your life match your beliefs?
