For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that the people and places around us shape our habits and character, just as spending time in a perfume shop can leave us smelling sweet. The khateeb encouraged us to choose close friends and trusted advisers who share our faith and help us come closer to Allah, while treating non-Muslims kindly. He described good companions as people who remind us of Allah, teach us something useful, and show through their actions that the hereafter matters. Making time for salah when we are out with friends was one practical example. He invited us to reflect on whom we turn to for advice, appreciate friends who sincerely want our good, and offer that same care in return.

  1. Who helps you remember Allah, and what do they do that helps?
  2. How could you help your friends make time for salah during a fun outing?
  3. What is one way you could be a more caring friend this week?
