For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us not to judge people’s closeness to Allah by their clothes, jobs, or outward appearance. It taught that work and business can become worship when we act honestly and intend to follow the Prophet’s example. Barakah is not only making more money; sometimes an honest decision that loses a sale is a real success with Allah. We do not all need to become entrepreneurs, but we can bring good intentions and truthful dealings into our work. Those who are able can begin with a small, responsible buying-and-selling project.

  1. How can we show honesty in a situation where telling the truth might cost us something?
  2. What small project could you try with a good intention?
  3. How can we avoid judging someone’s faith by how they look?
