For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah taught that the Prophet Muhammad’s life shows how to be serious about faith while still being warm, joyful, and human. His smiles, companionship, and humor helped build love among people with very different personalities. Humor can calm conflict and spread positivity, but it must be truthful and must never embarrass, belittle, or humiliate someone. We should correct mistakes and uphold accountability without reducing people to their sins, because people can repent, grow, and still love Allah and His Messenger. This week, let’s pause before joking, choose the right time and words, and use our speech to strengthen people.
- How can a joke make someone feel included rather than embarrassed?
- What should we do when a friend makes a mistake?
- When might taking a pause help us speak more wisely?
