Revive the Sunnah for Allah's love

“This beard kept me away from much haram.”

The khateeb, at 31:26

In one sentence

Following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, especially purifying the heart, marrying, using the miswak, and keeping the beard, is the path to Allah's love and salvation, and believers must revive these practices with sincere intention.

The khutbah in 8 steps

  1. Introduction: Quran and Sunnah are inseparable sources of guidance, and obedience to Allah requires obedience to His messenger
  2. The meaning and importance of Sunnah: every Sunnah is a means of success and nearness to Allah
  3. Simple overlooked Sunnahs: smiling, sleeping on the right side, eating with the right hand, not complaining about food, and kindness to children
  4. First Sunnah: the hadith of Anas ibn Malik on keeping the heart free of malice, deceit, and grudges
  5. Second Sunnah: marriage (nikah) as an established Sunnah
  6. Third Sunnah: using the miswak and rejecting common excuses for neglecting it
  7. Fourth and highlighted Sunnah: keeping the beard and trimming the mustache as a prophetic practice, a symbol of Islam, and an act of imitating the prophets
  8. Closing: intention matters more than appearance; a general call to revive every Sunnah and pray for Allah's assistance
