For the dinner table

Our lives are full of phones, short videos, news, and other noise that can keep us from thinking about Allah and our purpose. The khutbah reminds us that a strong Muslim leaves aside what does not truly concern him and protects his time. We can begin with a few quiet minutes each day, reflect on our actions and the Hereafter, and ask whether we have harmed anyone or failed their rights. We should also spend time with people who help us think deeply and notice Allah’s signs in ordinary life. The goal is not to ignore our responsibilities, but to stop letting distractions crowd out what matters most.

  1. What is one screen habit you could pause for five quiet minutes?
  2. What ordinary thing today could remind you of Allah?
  3. Before bed, is there anyone you need to apologize to or treat better?
