True wealth comes from Allah’s barakah

“Gratitude, brothers and sisters, is an unlock of barakah.”

The khateeb, at 11:43

True value is not measured by abundance but by the barakah Allah places through taqwa, gratitude, honesty, charity, humility, and maintaining kinship.

The khutbah taught that Islam changes not only what we do, but also how we recognize what is truly valuable. Barakah is Allah’s blessing that allows something small, our time, wealth, food, relationships, or efforts, to bring greater benefit than its amount suggests. We invite barakah through taqwa and obedience, gratitude, charity, honest and halal dealings, humility, forgiveness, and maintaining family ties. This means that having more is not always the same as having enough, while something modest can become deeply satisfying when Allah blesses it. We can ask Allah for barakah while also looking honestly at the choices that may be weakening it in our lives.

  1. What is one blessing from Allah that you sometimes forget to notice?
  2. If Allah placed more barakah in your time, how would you hope to use it?
