True manhood means serving Allah and people
“The rijal are the ones who follow the Quran and the Sunnah.”
True Islamic manhood is dependable, mosque-rooted, knowledgeable, protective, steadfast service to Allah and the community, cultivated through faith, family, and action.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Calls listeners to taqwa and a life centered on iman and la ilaha illallah.
- Presents the Prophet's companions as rare dependable doers with a leadership role as witnesses to humanity.
- Defines rijal through attachment to the masjid, prayer, purification, learning Quran and Sunnah, and implementation.
- Illustrates rijal through courage, planning, patience, supporting prophets and scholars, protecting families, and rejecting domestic violence.
- Connects steadfastness to Palestine and Qur'anic hope for the oppressed, asking whether listeners will serve Allah's plan.
- Concludes with women's role in nurturing strong people, Umar's preference for worthy men over wealth, and a call to act.
In the khateeb's words
“The whole point is not only to learn but to implement and to live upon it. The rijal are the ones who follow the Quran and the sunnah.”
“do not go out of this masjid today except that you have a niya in your heart that you will do something support your imam support the people who call for Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala”
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah encouraged us to become people others can depend on, turning good intentions into helpful actions. The khateeb connected that character with remembering Allah, staying close to the masjid, protecting prayer, and being clean inside and out. He reminded us that learning from the Quran and sunnah should shape how we live, and that we need patience to keep practicing those teachings when life is difficult. He said domestic violence has no place in our lives and spoke about family members caring for and supporting one another. He also honored the women who nurture and strengthen others, and asked everyone to leave with a sincere intention to do something for Allah’s sake.
- What is one helpful thing someone could count on you to do this week?
- How could our family help each other make time for prayer?
- Who helps you grow into a caring, trustworthy person, and how could you thank them?
